Project Management for Trainers: Fear is not an option
Training professionals (like us) are expected more and more to also be Project Managers. This is especially true of those of us who work primarily as Instructional Systems Designers (ISDs). In fact, it’s no longer uncommon for ISD job descriptions to include project management (PM) skills as one of the requirements for hire. However, PM skills do not always come naturally to us. Risk Management, Work Breakdown Structures, Stakeholder Management and Scope Creep can seem like a foreign language. This presentation will take some of the mystery and perhaps some of the fear out of project management, and hopefully give you some new tools and ideas that you can use right away.
Timothy R. Barry, PMP, SPHR has over 25 years of experience managing training projects for business, academia, manufacturing, healthcare, retail, military and law enforcement. He recently completed a one year curriculum development project for the
that will be used to train both new Special Agents and Intelligence Analysts. Tim has a Master of Science degree in Adult Education from
and is certified as both a Project Management Professional (PMP) and a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR). In 2010 he served as President of the Project Management Institute (PMI) Hampton Roads Chapter.
