    The St. Petersburg College Workforce Institute is a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, community connected business organization within St. Petersburg College. The department offers non-credit professional certificates and certifications to students, the business community, and the college.

    This individual will work with the Director of Global Corporate College, Program Director Industry Certifications, Industry Program Coordinators and the Workforce Institute team. This person will be partnering with the deans and other areas of the college to support the college mission and its advisory board.

    Job Description


    The contractor’s day-to-day expectations will be working with businesses, human resources, professional trainers, CareerSource, Pinellas County Economic Development, and other government agencies. Work with new corporate clients to develop customize training solutions for their organization. This individual is expected to generate revenue by fulfilling and enhancing relationships with new corporate clients. Interpersonal and relationship building skills are an important part of this contractor role, as well as highly-driven and results oriented.

    Typical Contractor Duties

    • Managing customer interactions and generating sales leads: prospecting, cold calling, qualifying, making customer calls, and closing deals.

    • Work with businesses and industry in the identification of educational and training needs, the development of customized training programs and courses.

    • Conducts public presentations to make the business community aware of programs and opportunities available through the local workforce board.

    • Hands on experience managing multiple client accounts and handling day-to-day client interaction.

    • Works with all phases of college (academic programs, business office, etc.) in connection with noncredit and credit certifications programs along with resolving client invoicing/billing;

    • Drafts contracts for presentation to client companies including such information as training to be offered, costs, numbers of participants, location of training, and many other aspects relative to training programs.

    • Represents the college at various meetings ranging from chambers of commerce, economic development, jurisdictional organizations, educational organizations, and development partnerships.

    • Assists in planning and maintenance of the program;

    • Works with clerical staff and/or student assistants;

    • Works with clients to develop training courses for federal, local and state grants.

    • Project Management is essential to this role.



    Bachelor's degree in marketing or in a related field to assigned area.


    Four (4) years of related experience, including marketing or sales. Experience in an adult training program. Experience with and knowledge of technology as it relates to training.* an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the contractor role may be acceptable in lieu of those requirements listed above.
